Treasure Hunt 6-5-2009

Did a Treasure Hunt tonight with two other students from Bethel, Joy and Micha. We each took a few minutes with the Lord and wrote out our Treasure Maps separately. All three of us had “Target” and “Winco” (a local grocery store) as our locations, so we decided to go to both of them… Target first. Joy had “black baseball cap” on her list, and a man outside the front door had on a black baseball cap, so we approached him, explained what we were doing, and noticed he had a “dog” (also on Joy’s list) on the front of his shirt. It said “Big Dog” and Micha had “Big (something)” on her map. We prayed for him for diabetes and finances then he talked with us for about half an hour about his life and was moved to tears more than once that God had sent us to him. Afterward, he mentioned that his wife Tami also had high blood pressure. He was a Christian, so I reminded him of the Scripture in Mark 16 that says, “These signs will follow them that believe… they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.” I placed my hands on his hands and they got instantly hot. I asked him if he felt the heat and he said yes. I told him to go to his wife, put his hands on her and command her body to be healed in the Name of Jesus—He looked at his hands and said OK. We parted ways and went inside the store as he left to pray for his wife.

Did a loop halfway around the store and on my treasure map was, “girl, 20s, black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, long brown hair” We found her with her fiancĂ©, registering for wedding gifts next to the “dog” food. I was a bit slow to approach, but also on my map I wrote “S.F.” (San Francisco); and on second look I noticed that it said “San Francisco” on the front of her sweatshirt. Their names were Ross and Heather. We told her what we were doing, and as I told her how God had sent us to her, showed her the list, and how much God loved her, she got all teary-eyed and very touched. We were able to pray for their marriage and future family, and they were very blessed and encouraged.

We left and went to Winco grocery store. We walked through the store and found a man with a “black baseball cap” and… a “Big Dog” T-shirt!!! Amazing! He and his wife were already saved, and had been to Bethel and knew about Treasure Hunts, so it was easy. They said everything was well, but of course enjoyed God pouring out His love on them afresh, and the prayers and blessing on their marriage and son.

Joy had the odd word “deodorant” on her map, so we decided to go to the deodorant aisle and see what happened. We got there and there, AGAIN, was a “girl, 20s, black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, long brown hair”!!! This was crazy!! We told her what we were doing and asked what she needed prayer for and she said she was on a “spiritual search” and wanted to know the right path, or something along those lines. She said that she was a Christian, but had been approached by some Mormons a couple of days ago, they gave her a book of Mormon. She said she’d read it and they said they’d be back in a few days to check up. I told her a few unbiblical beliefs that the Mormons had and we prayed for her to have wisdom and strength, etc. She thought is was pretty amazing that God had met her like this just when she was asking for His direction. What a “coincidence”, eh?

This Treasure Hunt was really interesting, in that that God gave all three of us the same two locations to go, and then we essentially found TWO PAIRS of basically identical people that matched our clues exactly… I’ve never seen that happen before, it was pretty amazing… I mean really, what are the odds?!"! God you are AWESOME! Seal the work that you are doing in each of their lives, and let the seeds that were planted or watered grow into much fruit in their lives, to Your glory!
